Analysis of Life To Live
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
We grow from birth,
Seeking approval and acceptance.
And taught how to get it.
Until the ease of that task,
Becomes more of a challenge to satisfy...
The ones who demand,
A jumping through hopes.
Licking boots.
And the cleaning of filthy garbage cans.
Then...
Not overnight it happens.
No longer is acceptance and approval wished.
And a removing off one's path,
Are those obstacles.
Appearing as if pebbles on a beach.
To make it known eventually,
Life to live feeling successful...
Day, night or anytime at all.
Is the belief in one's self
To faithfully accept and steadfast approval.
'What I call that is conceit.'
'I know.
And I remember you calling me a loser,
For not believing in myself more.'
'Well...
Did or did you not,
Benefit from my negative assessment?
In a positive way?'
'That was the wrong thing,
For me to say to you.'
'Why?
I don't always take the credit,
For the miraculous ways my abilities have...
In changing the pitiful lives of my friends.
Hey?
I do what I do.
You know that.
Without attention on myself expected to get.
Humility is my nickname!'
'I know.
Grateful? Right?
