Analysis of An encounter with Nagini
GIDRAF MWANGI 1992 (Murang'a)
Staring, goggling at me
Like a spider at an overpowered fly
Like a lion at a subdued wildebeest
Like a hyena at a cold cadaver
It stretched into full length
A whole ten feet in length
Rounded like village keg barrels
With a mouth deep like an abyss
Slithering silently like the tongue
Brushing away the green grass
Expanding mouth bearing fang
Sharp, spiky, shiny like brass
Shining against the crescent moon
That penetrated through the dark foliage
It approached me, a silent bane
Held helpless by forces so strong I couldn’t budge
The horizon blurred inch by inch
As the gob scope increased see by see
Then it all became dark, and a sharp pinch
Of fangs made me wake with a
Scream, a squawk
To find it’s just a dream!
