I grew up in rural New York with two sisters, a few friends, a creek, and a whole lot of trees. Despite the promise I showed in high school and the effort than many people invested in my success and well-being, I stumbled during college and for a year or two afterward. Eventually, through an odd sequence of events, I made my way out to the Chicago area. I've met plenty of wonderful people here, and I've been blessed in ways that I hadn't imagined. Hello! This is Matthew M., writing to wish you a merry Christmas and happy New Year. I realize this isn't the ideal way to contact you, but I couldn't find you elsewhere. I found your Christmas letter from 2014 in a bin of old papers, and it was very touching!

You're incredibly heartfelt--even when those feelings hurt, as your poetry shows. I have a lot of respect for that, and I wish that I showed more appreciation for it when we were younger. Let me know if you'd like to get in touch!
