Heaven and Hell

Where is heaven, where is hell, who says they’re far away from you?
Heaven and hell are within the people. Angels and demons are within us too.
When our conscience is overthrown by the deadly sins,
The hellfire of self-repentance burns within us...

Blood and Fire

Peaceful protest feels like begging

Those with power don't see our humanity

To them we are things to be used and abused

To them we are the worms on the street

Nonviolence feels humiliating

And the experts somehow call it victory

Infinitely

Life is so infinitely small

That's what makes it beautiful

I don't know most things but I know this for sure

Tomorrow I'll die

Deny Yourself, But

Love is not a choice
It's what we're made of
And made by
And what we're for
And what we are
And what we're
A part of
And what we need
And inherently want

Air

You are life

You are love

You are the wind

Over the grass

On the praries

You are light

You are dawn

You are the sky

In the spring

The horizon

You are kind

You are good

And I'm sorry

I never was the mother you needed me to be

Brown-Haired Boy

You said you wished your father was dead

Your brown hair a mess

All your many fingers thrumming the wall

Rhythmically

Like an ant crawling

Or a deer running

I'll find your father and kill him baby

I'll rip his heart out

Equality and Nature

I don't want money don't want dresses don't want saris

I want to run run on the wide open prairies

I want to swim swim in the River Jordan

I want nothing and everything with you

I don't want castles don't want power don't want thrones

Life, Freedom, Equality, Kindness

And who are they to define happiness

Based upon what and who they own?

And of course the rich American

A Blonde Girl and a Black-Haired Girl

It's after midnight.

But

you can't sleep.

And we're safe and tucked away,

in the girls' dormitory.

And

I wanna hold your hand.

I wanna hold your hand.

I wanna hold your hand .

And they think you're dreaming of blankness.

Protagonists

You would never go hungry to feed a stranger's child

You never felt your world draped in sunlight

When your crush looks at his girlfriend

And he's happy

And you're so glad he's happy

You never took your scarf off on a ice-cold night

What is the universe?

What is humanity?

What is sorrow?

This sterile clean hospital smell

The smell of death

The darkness reaching down

It's clawing fingers reaching out to me

Longing

All this hurt

And this hope

And this longing has to mean something

God make the universe more inhabitable

Decay

Our bodies decay from the inside out

Our minds they're unstable from the pain

And through all the hauntedness

I see holiness

Kneeling

I fall upon my knees.

The creatures roar all around me.

Somewhere deep inside my soul

Hidden from even myself sometimes

Workers’ Lament

My heart pumps but it doesn't pump blood

It pumps agony and misery and nothingness

Time flows thick like the poison oil

That they have stained our river in

Every day is work work work

Until my mind and body are screaming

Standing

Here I am standing all by myself

In a world devoid of life and hope

Here I am standing I don't know why

In a world that can't be beautiful

Here I am standing all worn out

This suffering it wears down on my soul

Storms

I am God's child

You are God's child

We are God's children

Both of us

I don't know how

We will survive

Through the storm that

Earth

I sink into the Earth

And it's as if I am everyone all at the same time

Their suffering fractures through me

And rips the blood from my veins

Powerlessness

I'm on my knees

I've spent a lifetime on my knees

I feel powerful on my knees

I feel powerless

I'm just a girl praying

For change to eventually happen

Screaming into the Void

I feel like I'm screaming

Into the void

I feel like my own life

Has become a void

I feel like my universe

Presses hot around me

I feel like my breathing

Just isn't coming

Please realize

That material wealth and entertainment

God’s Beacon

God's light will guide the way

A shining beacon out in the distance

Though clouds roll over the fire of the sun

I'm Deferential, Just Not to You

I don't belong to myself but

I absolutely do not belong to you

I will not should not and will not belong to you

And there's no use in telling me to live

When whoever I belong to doesn't want me to

I'm too much of a coward to die

Horizons on the Ocean

Around me the world tumbles and breathes and goes

And I can't wait to join it

Hurt me hit me make me bleed

(Wait for Me)

Sister I'm not going anywhere where you're not going

Sister I'm not doing anything that you won't do

Sister I'm not being anything that you're not being

Sister wherever you are know I will follow you

I'll follow you into the shadows
