T.S. Eliot (1888-1965) was a renowned British-American poet, essayist, playwright, and literary critic. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and moved to England in 1914, where he settled permanently and became a British citizen in 1927. Eliot's poetry is often associated with the modernist movement and is characterized by its use of fragmentation, irony, and symbolism to express the disillusionment and despair of modern life. His most famous works include "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock," "The Waste Land," "The Hollow Men," and "Four Quartets." Eliot was also a prominent literary critic and was one of the founders of the literary journal "The Criterion." He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1948 for his outstanding contribution to the field of poetry.
