Sarah Ahmed grew up in Somalia, where she felt both the sadness and strength of her country deeply. She loved writing poems from a young age, using words to share the feelings she had about the difficult things happening around her. Sarah's poems talked about the hard times in Somalia, like when families were sad or when people wanted peace but couldn't find it. She was inspired by brave people like Hodan Nalayeh and Elman's family, who worked hard for peace even though they faced tough times. Even though Sarah lived in different places, she always carried Somalia in her heart. Her poems showed both the comfort of living somewhere peaceful and the memories of Somalia's struggles. She wanted her poems to make people think about how important it is to come together and heal, even when things are hard.
