Letting Go

Once again it's me and this pen
Trying to concur with my conscience within
Let go of my battles, let go of my wounds
Let go of the pain or else I am doomed
Doomed to repeat every tragedy once more
By inflicting my soul with my un-nutured sores
Never taking the rest needed to heal
"can't stop now, there's no time to feel"
At least, that's the mantra I hear in my head
"It's how I've survived and how I'm not dead"
I pick myself up and waywardly carry on
Put on my brave face; tell myself that I'm strong
But I'm not strong am I?? I'm barely alive!
Like a zombie walking lifeless, with no heart beating inside
I'm still injured from the last fight, while even facing four more
Some how I need to be like David, and learn to say "The battle is the Lord's"
Such easy words to say, yet so hard to believe
Especially when you're up against giants, with just a slingshot up your sleeve!
To trust in Something you can't see, to be a moving force...
Is like trusting Something that's invisible, to keep you on course.
There was no logic, no scientifical reasoning
In the words that David spoke, there was no 'person, place, or thing'
There was nothing tangible, that you can lean on and grasp
Infact, "you and what army?!?" Goliath pretty much chuckled and asked
... but what the world was looking for with their eyes, could only be found within..
And when the Spirit rose up in David, there was just no stoppin' him!!!
...Now it wasn't his age, his success, or his looks
It wasn't even his strength, that put David's name in the books
But his willingness to stand, where EVERYONE ELSE was scared to be
And let the Lord do His job, by His Spirit, God... set all them people free
So I've learned, it's all of my questions and fears, is what I need to quit
Because the battle's not won by my might, nor by my power... but it's won by His Spirit
