The language of love

David Miller 1961 (New Castle, PA)

The language of love

In a world so cold, so heartless
Void of love and empty
A soul longs for tender kisses
Little whispers of love so sweet .

We seek the rarest of treasures
Not one to be gawked at by men
But one which is felt by tender hearts
When the rainstorm closes in.

Like ripples upon the calm water
Love’s effects can sweep us all
We may not even notice
Impressions not obvious, but small.

You really have to be silent
To hear the voice of love’s call
So quickly it will change us
Like a child, we are prone to fall.

It isn’t seen in flashes of lightening
Or heard in the thunder’s roar
But love pulls on the heartstrings
In eyes of someone we adore.

When we least expect it
When our hearts are raw
Love grips us undeniably
Leaving us in awe.
