Reflections

David Miller 1961 (New Castle, PA)

Reflections

Standing at the mirror
She examines her aging face
She sees each line and wrinkle
Covering them in haste

Her appearance is not what it once was
Her age has taken over
The fear of this overwhelms her
Putting makeup on to cover

Her lover sees the girl he knows
He’s not looking at her flaws
She is amazed and speechless
He loves her, just because

We spend our days in cover mode
So worried about the surface
When deep inside is where it counts
The place where beauty is evident

We try so hard to keep our youth
It transcends every culture
In order to unlock this mystery
We only need, look deeper

Attraction is all relative
What do we seek to find?
The source of true beauty
Is a heart, loving and kind

In terms of love, God is the same
And much to our surprise
We are seen as perfect and complete
In our Father’s eyes

God loves us with our shortcomings
In His kingdom, we have a place
He wants to wrap us in His love
And surround us with His grace.
