Demons

Victoria Lamphear 1968 (TN)

Young of the age of 7
Told to go to bed
Watching the fan blades twirl
Demon lurking behind
Mocking and laughing
Suddenly the fan lifts up
Moving to the doorway
I jump up and bend to avoid
the blades and cord
feeling the cord on my back
as I run from the room
What do I do
Who do I tell
What do I say
My dad is who I trust
but his reaction is not expected
Told to go to bed
Told you are dreaming
I felt the cord
I seen the small shape
It was not natural
It was not human
This was the beginning
And to this day there is no ending
Demons lurk
Demons taunt
I refuse them
I rebuke them
They still persist
Demons are real
Demons are

Victoria Lamphear

Not new to poetry but taken a break and have enjoyed life, I have entered a creative writing course and it has renewed my passion. Writing poetry and short stories have been my thing for as long as I can remember. Fiction and non-fiction. I have experienced some ghostly experiences in my life and will share them with you in poetry. Hope you all are mouths and eyes wide opened! Victoria more…
