Sixth sense

Edward T Medalis 1939 (Detroit Michigan)

Obscure focus;
it's even there, when not aware
Vision within;
sight without eyes that too soon dies
External realm, five senses capture
Internal realm, the sixth lets us hear
The sixth is a hearing without ears
A personal voice over the years
The voices within that we can hear
Bind together to ward off a fear
It's always a friend that is in tow
Though we can mistake it for a foe
We are not crazy as people might say
When we converse with our minds every day
