I'm Still Here

Victoria Lamphear 1968 (TN)

I’m Still Here
I’ve always been myself
Even when I didn’t fit in
I am inside trying to get out
But I’m still here
People made fun
Laughed and mocked
Taunted and abused
But I’m still here
Hiding in the shadows
Hoping I’m not noticed
Watching with reservation
But I’m still here
I’m dying inside
Hoping I can come out
Despair setting in
Am I still here
Told to be myself
Told don’t worry
Others will see you
Can I be here
Quiet and reserved no more
Not caring about their thoughts
Releasing my true self
Thank goodness, I’m still here

Victoria Lamphear

Not new to poetry but taken a break and have enjoyed life, I have entered a creative writing course and it has renewed my passion. Writing poetry and short stories have been my thing for as long as I can remember. Fiction and non-fiction. I have experienced some ghostly experiences in my life and will share them with you in poetry. Hope you all are mouths and eyes wide opened! Victoria more…
