Modern Day Oregon Trail
Sandra JoAnne Booth-Maxwell 1957 (San Rafael)
The trip was great the drive was long
we did a lot of singing to our favorite song
We wiggled we giggled we danced as we could
The baby joined in as we knew she would
Then baby fussed from time to time
but went quiet with a noisy wind chime
The chimes we heard most of the way
but fusses no longer baby did say.
The roads all clear the traffic was light
We traveled by day instead of at night
The Mountains we climbed with foot on the gas
then going downside the semis did pass
Hours and hours the day did go by
Seven then eight and we started to sigh
We pulled in the driveway on an unfinished song...
We'll stay a couple of days then we'll be gone.
