Wraps Of Intensity

Emptiness wraps intensity,
aspirations slip away,
I could've had everything,
instead there's a void,
it crashes into my spirit
while dreams evaporate.

There's no tomorrow,
only right now
as I tear tears
from disappointment's ache.

I could not bear
to watch her die,
it was too much for me,
and so I ran,
far into the distance.

Contemplation strikes my cheek
as I debate with God -
perhaps my life for hers,
but He doesn't answer
as I rock myself into madness.

Maybe I will take my life,
join her in the grave,
at least then
the vehemence of this attack
would be over - I hope.

But I am afraid,
and that kills me even more
for I know she is watching me,
weeping as I suffer.

Cruel winds whip
my naked back
as I pine for time
to wind back and set me free,
to where she laughed
and cried within love's smile.

There's no escape,
here inside grief's snarl,
acceptance of this agony
will arrive after
a million lonely nights
of undiluted insanity.
