In The Vortex Of Silence

A composition's rhythm wanders thought
while stars undress themselves of bright light: taut
history - a spiralled steady onslaught
towards melancholy eyes; watered hues,
emerald earth and rippled seas of blue,
in madness, a poetic amber's sought.

As cold loneliness strangles solitude
elevated imagination's viewed -
suggestive simplicity is subdued
by visionary manuscripts of time
that search in anguish for a fairer clime,
this heart and soul are in an endless feud.

Dark substance twirls form on its fingertips,
notions embalm the mind's ghostly transcripts
and in the vortex of silence; pursed lips,
colour stretches across beautiful sighs,
weariness balances truth and sweet lies
then slips to the realm of a dream's eclipse.

Handwritten scrawls of ragged quality
dance through reflection's disturbed poetry,
here within the night a spirit brusquely
chimes the hour's musical departure -
as pain stalks the wild shadows of pleasure
the dawn sprinkles feathered anxiety.
