Wash It Away

The leaves crunch beneath my twelve year old feet.
The tree's seem so peacful through my eyes today.
The wind seems to kindly whisper all the secrets of my faults.
It doesn't matter how quiet the outside world is, I know there is a strorm brewing at home.

I walk for miles, but not quite far enough.
The power of mama's boyfriend's fist seems to always excede mine.
Maybe one day it won't.
Maybe one day I'll be stronger.
I can only hope.

Today is September 29th.
The air embraces me, feeling like December instead.
Mama told me to wrap myself up, But I don't see how I am suppose to do that beneath this tattern cloak. I believe if I put myself in the right state of mind, I might feel alright.
Even if it's just for a mince of a second.

I love my mama very much.
I would do anything for her.
But that devil she is with.
I have never met someone so angry.
His anger seems to be rubbing off onto me.
Not much anyone really understands about that.
But I'm not making excuses for myself,
Only stating the truth.
I wish I could wash it off.
Wash away my anger like a dirty disease.
Wash it away like mama washes the West Virginia dirt from my knees.

Chante Abbott

My name is Chante' Noel Abbott. I am 20 years old and a West Virginia girl. I have been writing poetry since I was 6 years old. I have more composition books filled with words than I can honestly handle. I have a 2 year old son who keeps me going each day. What can I say, between my love for him, and these West Virginia mountains, I have enough inspiration to last a life time. <3 more…
