Depleted

Stale breath fills my lungs,
Stand back and watch them cut out my tongue.
Treacherous words spill from my lips,
Gashing peroxide at my rips.
I cover my pain with laughter, crude,
Trying not to be so rude.
They pound the nails into my palm,
I disguise my pain, remaining calm.
Silence fills the roaring crowd,
As mama stands, and watches proud.
A tear, I felt, Roll down her cheek,
I knew mama couldn't speak.
I held to my pride as long as I could,
Sipping their poison, Like I knew they would.
I stay there pinned to the cross,
When it came to speach, I was at a loss.
In my heart, was a nervous beat,
My soul overcome by defeat.
My entire body, turned to frale,
I looked to mama, her face was pale.
Years of pain rolled down my face,
As I felt death take my place.
I let out one last racking shriek,
As they told me not to speak.
I closed my eyes and bit my lip,
Blood dripped down my fingertips.
Into the cup, of the enemy's drink,
Wrapped in gauze, I couldn't think.
There's something underneath my skin,
I couldn't let those demons win.
I bow my head, and drift away,
I'll come back for you someday.

Chante Abbott

My name is Chante' Noel Abbott. I am 20 years old and a West Virginia girl. I have been writing poetry since I was 6 years old. I have more composition books filled with words than I can honestly handle. I have a 2 year old son who keeps me going each day. What can I say, between my love for him, and these West Virginia mountains, I have enough inspiration to last a life time. <3 more…
