war and hate

We wield terrible powers
Over the unsuspecting masses
They quake in fear of the invisible
 feel of our clenched fist

innocents borne of our ill-conceived passions
bear witness to our contempt

for the land, the air, the sea

We ride roughshod over dissent
the voices of decency become small in our throats
a bitter pill we swallow  freedom is someone else's dream

hidden in rooms avoiding screams and shouts
huddled with teddy bears with the guts exposed
and the stuffing lay bare
