Victims of Inhumanity
Flightless and forlorn we stand and wonder why,
On an oil-slicked beach
Helpless as our brothers try
To climb the wall they cannot reach.
Others not so lucky though,
Now feathered weights of murky crude
Have sunk beneath the Gulf's diminished flow
To deathbeds dark and rude.
No one feels the paralysis in our wings,
Our cries are all in vain.
Yet to dark threads of hope we cling.
What will be our fate?
Is death a certainty?
Because of mankind's love for hate
We are the victims of inhumanity.
