Industry

I saw a sparrow build a nest today
Of straw, some leaves and hay.
She journeyed back and forth, as he
Her mate, perched idly in the tree.
She toiled laboriously at this task
And never did she ask
For help to build her nest
As she continued on with zest.
She made a hundred trips from dawn to dusk
Seemed there was no one she could trust
To do a job as intricate as this.
And as she wove each little twig with bliss
I wondered if that scoundrel cared,
For this task, hereally should have shared.
The job is done, now she must rest
Her weary self within that little nest.

Barbara Cadogan

I am a Registered Nurse, and first started to write poetry when I was about 18 years old. I have written several poems on a variety of subjects, and enjoy poems that are light and filled with humor. I feel that a good poem like a painting, is able to evoke a variety of emotions, whether sad or cheerful, angry or sympathetic. My goal in life is to learn as much as I can, and to spread peace and good cheer to many. Above all, to be respectful and helpful to my fellow man. more…
