Time to contemplate

Salvatore Buttaci

caught in the maelstrom
between here and hereafter,
whirling in my day-to-day life,
it's wise now and then
to contemplate whether the winds
making rag dolls of us all
will one day blow soft and kind
and settle us down on
the firmness of new earth
or punish us forever
in the whirling eternal.
