The Wretched

Jonathan Walker 1977 (South Africa)

Wretched creature
Dead within
Need a rescue
From my skin

Hide my wretched
Face from you
Masked by lies but
You pierce through

You think you're rich
Wretched mind
Poor and pitied
Shamed yet blind

Wretched men to
Wretched ends
Share the harvest
Righteous friends

Wretched days we're
Starved and scorned
Cheerless hearts will
Feast once more
