Take Me for a Fool

Jonathan Walker 1977 (South Africa)

Take me for a fool
Yeah I believe in Jesus
Throw me to the wolves
Shred my flesh to pieces

It could all just be
A big misunderstanding
But here on my knees
I somehow know true healing

Take me for a sheep
Thieves may beat and blind me
Leave me in the street
Samaritans to find me

It could all just be
An elaborate deception
But here on my knees
I somehow know redemption

Take me for a goof
The but of every joke
When just one way and just one truth
Is my one and only hope

It could all just be
Mary's secret shame
But here on my knees
I somehow know real faith

Take me for a simpleton
Crown me with disgrace
But none can hide the kingdom
Of the light beyond our days

It could all just be
God loves you and me
So take me for a for a fool
The truth has set me free
