The Sun is Shining

Outside brews a storm, of it I think not
With each dimming moment, you’re my passing thought.
Outside the sun is shining, more brightly than before
Near you the sun never stops, it shines all the more.
Outside the frosted window, the rain turns to snow
The warmth disappears but I wouldn’t know.
A hurricane approaches, I cannot see
Fear I have not, for you are with me.
The wind picks up, destruction in it’s path
We are protected, we do not feel it’s wrath.
The sun goes down but the darkness is not cast
The sorrow it brings I know will not last.
The fog clouds my vision, you are my guide
You’ve led me on, while others haven’t tried.
Distance can only separate the body, not the soul
When the pieces have shattered, you make me whole.
I have not been abandoned, I’ll withstand a little longer
A single strand breaks, but two make it stronger.
You are the reason a flower chooses to bloom
What others pluck out, for it you make room.
What the world sees as faded, you see as beauty
You serve in love, while others out of duty.
You give of yourself freely, never asking in return
Others should take heed, from you they could learn.
So when the time comes when your world is shattered
Stay strong and remember how much you have mattered.
