The Rat Race: A Prelude

I sold my soul to the Rat Race,
now I'm a competitor looking for a change of pace.
Manipulating others with the smile on my face,
oblivious, in reality I'm only running in place.
Reckless spending is my only intention,
for the love of attention.
Told my soul good riddance,
I need you no more.
Find my mind in the mall,
and my soul at every store.

I just can't seem to escape the allure.
