The Grandest Mother

I was sure you'd slip a check into my birthday card
but you don't know my suffering
and I would never want you to share in that gathering
I would never let you see that side of me
There's no longer family for cherishing
The pieces scattered out haphazardly
And now we pull back together
like an exploded planet
And coalesce into another unit
immeasurable and unbeatable
I know that soon I'll have a place to call my home
and it's all thanks to you
You've surpassed your duties
on a continual basis
despite your own strife
You're the one of us that
truly belongs in paradise
