9. THE EMPTY--- DR.KGB

The dark has no hue,
It is not the new,
Nor the enchanting view,
But the fool does frighten,
Me and you!

It is the absence,
Of the presence,
Of the smiling sense;
It is the nil-ness,
Of the radiance,
Of the trueness,
Of the gleam an' reliance;
Of the independence!

Present the darkness,
In the emptiness;
In this narrowness;
In this cell of cruelness;
In our merciless blindness!

In the redness of the dumb lips;
In the mind filled with hopelessness;
In the thirstiness, hungriness;
In the intractable sadness!
