Terminal Velocity

It had seemed like an eternity,
the lingering silence only moments before.
People fell prey to the business of the hour,
when the unthinkable struck,
with cold clarity.

In an instant everything had changed.
The security of stone, the sturdiness of steel,
victim to the child of the polar opposite of love,
executed with heartless precision.
Seized with fanatical drive.

Oppression drove its fist outwards
in to the heart of freedom and death exploded like a bomb.
Shards of certainty scattered on the ground
Real people paid the ultimate price,
Finally the world pulled together.

What do you do when the movie becomes truth?
Reeling from the unreality, a second blow was struck.
Now it all belonged to the shallow stage of the media
the world could only shed tears
as the perpetrators stole tranquillity.
