Samia

The brown hair that waves at me.
The darkness of her skin that stares at me.
I wonder what she's doing now.
Are you outside playing with your friends,
having fun, laughing.
I remember that loud laugh.
Or maybe your smiling at yourself for falling down.
I remember that open mouth smile.
Or maybe you are crying because you couldn't get that
toy in the store.
I remember that tear, that runs down your face.
Isolation and frustration, it's so hard to control
your feelings, when all you want to do is hold your
daughters hands, when she's laughing or smiling or even crying,
you want to hold on tight, so she can say, Daddy I love you.
Fathers cry too.
