Red says the sunset
Close my eyes, paint a picture…
Take me back to a time when I was just a kid.
The world around me was ever growing
And there was a sweet innocence in everything I did.
The morning sun was my smile,
Her warm words whispered on my skin... and
Red says the sunset, red says the sunset,
How I needed a friend…
To share all this happiness that I thought could never end.
The city was my playground, an enchanted new land ready to explore…
Abandon structures, hidden places near rushing railroads, giant puddles from thunder storms
Rainbows arched leading right to my front door.
And red says the sunset again every day,
Red says the sunset come out and play.
If I could only go back,
To lying on lazy days in the tall grass,
To wading after minnows in a little brook pass.
To jumping dangerously from rooftops,
Climbing trees, skinning knees,
Learning to start a fire from one little match.
In the afternoons it was huge, it was…
Red says the sunset all over again, red says the sunset,
This time I had found a friend.
To share in my adventures,
This truly was not the end.
