Police Helicopter

POLICE HELICOPTER

Under darkened skies what a wonderful tool,
Those who ignore it are themselves a fool,
Modern technology swoops down from  the skies,
Has greater potential than most realise.

When on nights  it is always around,
How it helps those on the ground,
Able to sense by radar and heat,
No-one can hide it's hopeless to retreat.

The crew are experts in territory and sight,
Can trace locations both day and night,
Following criminals all over the place,
Easily they're tracked no matter the pace.

Rescues are done from time to time,
Oh how welcome that blue Police sign,
Lights and speed they help a lot,
People are thankful for what we've got.

Hearing them operate is exciting to me,
It is fascinating knowing what they see,
They maintain surveillance wherever they are,
And direct the police and also each car.

There's a cost to public and force,
Although it's subsidised and expensive - of course,
Without this facility serious crime would soar,
Perhaps another's needed - yes just one more.

Congratulate the crews and those on board,
An onerous task with very little reward
Long hard hours with pressure and stress,
One incident after another, there's more -not less.

I have been writing poems for forty years and written about all sorts of things. Somehow I get creating streaks and can write up to 4 or 5 poems at once of varying subjects. I find it is a good way to record events of the day and bring history to life. The mental aspect is a balance against keeping fit, work and life in general. more…
