Another Season

NEXT SEASON!
Signs of spring
how easy to find,
Traces of green
sap starts to unwind,
Leaves they form
what a delicate shade,
View the Magnolia's
and the colours-displayed!
=====
Petals like tablespoons
they litter the ground,
Under the tree
a magnificent carpet's found,
Contrasting with grass
good on the eye,
Spectacular and unusual
like the monarch butterfly.
=====
Even the oaks
wave in each breeze,
They become alive
how lovely these trees,
Fuschia's have started
to come into leaf,
Silently winter's past
shunned like a thief!
=====
Tuis seek nectar
from the Kowhai-sweet,
Beautiful their plumage
how many I greet,
Melodious the call
of this tufted bird,
Truly I'm amazed
at the music heard.
=====
Even the thrush
with it's speckled breast,
Crosses the lawn
from east to west,
They and blackbirds
are quite a size,
Eagerly they seek
worms as a prize.
=====
I see birds
they tilt their head,
Hastily with beak
it's another worm-dead,
Using their senses
how efficient they be,
Finding the sustenance

we can't even see.

About this poem;-
Incredible each new season and spring
is always exciting and beautiful,hence the

stan brierly

I have been writing poems for forty years and written about all sorts of things. Somehow I get creating streaks and can write up to 4 or 5 poems at once of varying subjects. I find it is a good way to record events of the day and bring history to life.The mental aspect is a balance against keeping fit,work and life in general. more…
