Phyllis Waits for Rain

In Monsoon-lightning season
Philly waits alone for noons
That reach above one hundred.
She seeks the air's vibrating shiver.
Desert ripe with darkening clouds,
Her earth blooms as she unfolds
Adjectively:
Vibrant, rich and fragrant.
Slight winds kicking up dust
Against her solitary memories
Spark shaky scenes of
Undulating meringue pie.
Anticipating forks of pleasure given,
She finds he's not a monsoon man;
He lacks the sweet tooth for the snare.
So Philly sits alone waiting on the clouds.
