Of Hope

I have been sent
As a messenger of hope
As a soldier who went
To war and was shown
The struggles, the strife,
The great loss of life
Caused by the snares
Of sin, and the tears
It has made upon their hearts

Who am I to refuse
The call of my Lord
Not to just sit and muse
But to share with the world
The provision He's given
To the least, to the poor
Of the comfort He's given
To all those who mourn

He releases
Those who've been bound
And saves
Those He causes to hear the sound
Of His voice

He gives liberty
To the captive soul
Restores the brokenhearted
And makes the whole

Ashes He replaces
With beauty untold
Supplies strength to the one
Whose faith is little and cold

But the reason of God
Our spirits to raise
Is His name exalted
And His eternal praise

I am only fourteen, and don't write poetry often (although more than the average teenager), so here are my best pieces. My inspiration is solely my relationship with Jesus Christ, and what He has revealed to me in His word! :-) more…
