My Dream

What could this mean?
His employer stared on the verge of a declaration
The mythic answer was about to come
While there was no question

The position met basic needs
A modest salary- a destination
The work while occasionally tedious
Caused little in the way of frustration

The social intercourse was pleasant
A veneer and nothing more
Nonetheless allowed a day- while bland
Hardly demanding, in a word, comfortable

Life laid out before him-steadily and uneventfully
He had never been driven as it were
He followed a well prepared path
That lead somewhere or maybe nowhere- he did not care

Yet- why was he being pulled - cajoled
Into sharing another man's dream?
Why would one suppose? Suppose another desired
Wanted to become part of this exaggerated team?

Wasn't he tool enough?
Maybe his dream would appear
That which would bring purpose and determination
Unless deafened by another's feigned cheer
