Love Met

We met in the morning in a meadow where we talked for hours
so sweet was summer's scent from nearby purple flowers

I thought I knew love before, I see now she is my first
having kissed her lips my own have now learned of thirst

My fingers idly trace along the gentle texture of a rose
while deep within the yearning for her soft touch ever grows

Where clouds before, now sun and sky most fair are the days
as all are shared with gentle eyes of her loving gaze

We laid upon the sloping ground cushioned by soft grasses
with her the day waned quickly as sun's radiance passes

I listened to her melodious voice throughout the day til night
there upon her treasured breath my feathered heart took flight

Among the crowds of town the realization does occur
I'm alone among the masses until again with her

Seeing the winged flight of a beautiful white dove
my thoughts are of distance closed returning to my love

As closer to my love I come my heart begins to race
remembering her gentle nature and the warmth of her embrace
