Innocence

With my willow I walk
Barefoot against wet earth
Fingers contouring soft curves
Smiling, my eyes closed
Safety in white winds
Wrapping around like fleece
Crashing surf in the distance
Mists speckling my face
Moving on, feet sinking deeper
Memories of you arise
Your hair, soft and fragrant
Mimicking colors of autumn
Skin as velvety as honey
Sadness in your russet eyes
That would, without words,
Plead with me to "stay"
My heart, stirred by reminiscence
Is heavy with warm love
Anxious, eyes wide open
I stand-alone with my willow
