Hits for My Heart: Part 2

As my ash blows with the wind,
The autumn leaves catch their drift.
The song sings through the branches,
The beat goes on and on so swift.
I watch the embers fall, off of my chest.
Releasing their truth, with my every last breath.
Its getting colder now, the sun is going down.
The fire has been extinguished, the dew dried it out.
My heart has been blessed, to know what's real.
My heart has been cursed, because it can feel.
The crickets know this song, they sing it through the night.
Every hit of my heart, Makes the flame glow bright.
I watched the smoke, form into the clouds.
I didn't know, the beat of my heart was so loud.
The stars from my eyes, reflected to the sky.
The song of my heart, gives me the reason why.
Harmony of souls, glow together, so bright.
The flame in us all, help us see through the night.

Alanna LaCour

My name is Alanna, I am 19 years old and I live in Music City. I love writing, all forms of poetry, listening to music, anything that is deep rooted, and just about everything else in between. I started writing my own poetry around age 7, and started reading Emily Dickinson and other well known writers around that time. I am a poetic and sensitive soul, but I am very bold and outspoken. Everything is beautiful, if you just take the time to look! :) more…
