Growing Out of a Lotus

A foot tied by a Chinese shoe
to become the shape of a lotus flower

My heart tied by a barbed wire of fear
To become a warning of world’s dangers

My heart is a shape of nothing
And it grew to like it this way

Sometimes it still tries to show me it is alive
and the thorns of distrust and sarcasm
put it back into shape.

The foot liberated from ties and bandages
Doesn’t feel free

It screams of agony and terror

Not yet knowing

That the ecstasy of running
is worth the pain
of stretching
tormented ligaments
out
on the earth.

My poems are a new, unexpected and slighlty disturbing by-product of my therapy. Making them available for people to read and review was the next frightening step, but the feedback and generous words were absolutely amazing - thank you all - so maybe I will continue... :) It is a priviledge to be a part of the community with so much imagination and talent. I love reading poems and reviews..., such an interesting portrait of our egos :) May we all enjoy endless waves of inspiration and fun. more…
