Fossil found

A bachelor party that's what it took,
To re-write data in a history book,
Discovering a fossil thousands of years old,,
Uncovering a skeleton with a story told!

That extinct mastodon a palaeontologist's dream ,
The best example that we have ever seen,
Unearthed and treasured studied in detail,
Massive this beast from tusk to tail.

Brilliant the find really worthwhile indeed,
Able to evaluate how these mammals feed,
Note its condition wonder how it died,
Recently under water but now it's dried.

In New Mexico this exhibit was found,
Buried in  silt in that watery ground,
Recovering this fossil is the task in  hand,

From the sandbank of the Old Rio Grande

I find it is a good way to record events of the day and bring history to life. The mental aspect is a balance against keeping fit, work and life in general. more…
