Dust And Rust

The finest body, bone and flesh, is destined to be dust.
The sanguine fluid, rich and fresh, is destined to be rust.

The greatest treasure, quaint and rare, is destined to be dust.
The common chattel, good and fair, is destined to be rust.

The highest honor, show and fame, is destined to be dust.
The golden medal, praise and claim is destined to be rust.

The bravest battle, fought and won, is destined to be dust.
The happy moment, joy and fun is destined to be rust.

The sweetest music, chant and song, is destined to be dust.
The sultry affair, close and strong, is destined to be rust.

The safest haven, sure and sound, is destined to be dust.
The noble virtue, lost and found, is destined to be rust.
