Dusk to Dawn

The day put on her twilight veil
And walked off into the night
No moon or stars to show the way
Just darkness to dull her sight

Then silently from east it came
A silver eerie kind of light
Casting shadows from the hedgerows
Making all around seem bright

The mystic moon her place she took
Way up high in autumn sky
Day walked on with quickened pace
As silent shadows slipped on by

At last her walk came to an end
As dawns fingers fanned the sky
With a reddish glow like lava
To bring morning to you and I
