 By studious observation, digging beneath the surface, doing the needed research
 To uncover the truth about motivations that brought the situation to its current perch
 On the environment in which you abide, confirming your skepticism with some stated line
 That some less-than-honest person was trying to feed you, so you don't end up on his fork's tine
