Cold and scared

Laying down snuggled in a cold sheet trying to stay warm
I feel the cold air swipe over me
I look up and see the doors shaking
from the wind about to blast cold air my way
Fearing that my tears might turn to ice I wipe them fast.
I look left then right
to find a corner I could creep into
I found one to the right that was clear
so I plunged my way to it
Crouched down hugging my bare knees
I found myself afraid.
The fact that I was alone
on this cold winters night
scared me the most.
There was no one there with me
Just me and myself.

The thunder started
and then came the rain pouring down hard.
The dogs were barking loud
I felt a shiver that covered my whole body
The echo of the thunder
rang throughout the room.
