Broken Hearted Hopeless Romantic

i met her at the bar on a starry night
i was stumbling drunk when she asked me if i was alright
i took one look at her face and thought i saw my ex
when you're a broken hearted hopeless romantic, what do you expect?
i asked if she wanted be by me to sit chit and chat
she said “of course handsome, you don't even have to ask”
i ordered us some drinks, i had a gin and tonic, and she had some whiskey
well where do you wanna go next she asked, i said “i don't care as long as you're with me”

i get her inside jokes inside of fortune cookies
plays chess with her and she tells me i'm still a rookie
i cooked her some home made ramen noodles
she said it tasted like spam but she doesn't mean to be rude tho
i asked if she wanted to play a friendly game of scrabble
but she said no, i wanna sit and watch conan and laugh so
sit with me and we will stare at an endless dream of fading skies
i won the lottery late last month but that don't matter cause you're my prize

i'll head out west with her in my mercedes benz
forever hoping we'll be together until the end
i took her to the zoo to see all of the furry animals
it started raining insanely so she asked “can we go?”
i asked if she wanted to go to the barbados art gallery
but she said no i already went yesterday with my friend valerie
i passed by the canadian cafe i was sitting in last may, when i saw my ex sitting with a guy, she asked me “who's that?” and i said that's mary
