Awaken
Dance- run
Each path more marvelous than the one before
Each luring, beckoning me further
Is this the one?
The day was passing quickly
The Sun well over head
I can not hesitate at the threshold
My future lies ahead
At first an easy climb
Guide posts direct my way
Ahead I could see the brilliance
Of the future I pray
I passed travelers pointing me ahead
Wishing me well-
“The future is yours they shouted”
My already intense effort swelled
But the path narrowed
I could barely see
Weeds seem to grab at my legs
Insect bites inflamed by the heat
There were no more guide posts
No travelers to point the way
Only a trail almost invisible
I fear I had lost my way
Should I turn back?
I could join those no longer able to suffer
I could push forth another day
Refreshed and prepared strengthened able to endure
I was welcomed with open arms
My arrival was celebrated—expected
I lingered for days listening to tales of half journeys
Journeys I knew would never be resurrected
Next morn. - the others asleep from celebration
I gathered my strength
Found my whisper of a path
Pressed ahead into the thicket
The biting insects were not present
Somehow the grade seemed less
The weeds soften my foot falls
My progress forward was almost effortless
In the stillness of the forest
A voice once indistinguishable from the din
Spoke clearly and lovingly
Guiding me to Him
