As Sweet as Honey

The blue stillness of the night invites my mind to wander,
recalling all the special moments I had spent with you--
My memories fresh as yesterday though it was years ago,
when we kissed all day and all the night with desire that held true--
It will always be that vision which puts my soul at ease,
and helps me through the aching hours of pain from this disease.

Now sadly I will leave this world with a wish to see you once more,
but only ghosts trample in and out through a constant revolving door--
My deepest hope is that you'll truly know I never meant to leave,
for I could see so clearly then your heart still on your sleeve.

The wind whipped up a raging storm inside this troubled mind,
then calmed with whispering sighs of love that had made my days sublime--
As I pass into another world I sense you'll be happy and free,
yet one more sweet-as-honey-kiss would mean everything to me.
