Ageless Wisdom

Though we often agonize over what we could surmise
it is time to recognize the many things we devise
never could fully comprise everything that we baptize.

The old masters still advise words sufficient for the wise:
Never eschew exercise. Never become oversize.
Never be a booby prize. Never sentiment capsize.
Never wake after sunrise. Never quit devoid of tries.
Never attempt to disguise. Never morals compromise.
Never correspond with lies. Never neglect guiltless cries.

All efforts to improvise will surrender to demise
and this comes as no surprise. Since ourselves we supervise
take occasion to revise the entire enterprise.
