Dark Sun

And then the dark sun grew dimmer
Each dawn concedes kernels
Of once abundant radiance
The joyous winds of discourse and
Cherished camaraderie
Stall in the time hollowed trees.
Clouds sigh into empty sadness
Drying out the parched blue sky.
Rain becomes a stranger like
Memories of friends.
The garden of voices dies.
Grass withers. Flowers fade.
All is dust until even
Silence sings no more.

And yet I linger on alone.
I linger here

Alone.
