The Pain of Loving You

When I first saw you,
Heaven never felt closer.
Before that moment,
The fires of hell had scorched my happiness.
When my love for you
Saved me, as would an angel.
Every day since that moment
I long for your embrace,
For your tender kiss,
For your attention,
For your affection.
I do dream of you,
But dreams are only real to the dreamer…
A sad, troubling truth that is.
Though dreams betray reality,
As my interest in you betrays my better judgement.
And your beautiful brown eyes lead to your soul
And I can tell that you care.
And every time that your mouth moves,
I hang on to every word,
As though gravity is the only thing keeping me from your lips.
And your irresistible, magnetic laugh, like gunpowder,
Only adds fuel to my fire.
And as that smile, that curves slightly upward when you say something snarky,
Or when you make fun of me for being shorter than you.
Makes my heart flutter with longing.
And I would suffer the most brutal of tortures
To ensure that smile lasts forever.
But now here is the promise that I make to you…
One day you will love me more than you have ever loved before
And I will spend every day,
Every hour,
Every waking minute,
To every second,
Loving you

What an absolutely lovely poem. On time for Valentine's day no less. The language that she uses is so descriptive and rich that I can feel the love that she professes to feel.... I hope she posts again!
